Amanda and Andrew's wedding was like a family wedding for me. I had 3 previous brides in attendance, which was so fun! For wedding party photos, we wondered around the Lincoln Park area. What a busy location for wedding parties! Wowsa! We finished up with some photos outside of the Knickerbocker Hotel where the reception was and I have to tell you, with the light we were getting, it was my favorite spot. The city lights were glowing and the sun was setting. So we stopped traffic and got some great shots.
So excited to be accepted as a featured vendor of Borrowed & Blue!
Another amazing day! Jamie and Zack planned their whole wedding to take place at Independence Grove - ceremony, photos, and reception. Always a risky choice with weather being a factor. But there was no rain in site!
Stunning bride! Seriously, Sami, you looked amazing. Super hot out this day but I'll take hot over rain any day. One of my very first weddings was at Riverside Receptions in Geneva, so it was so much fun getting back there last weekend. Check out this quick preview!
Congrats to Carly and Jon! Saturday was picture perfect in every way. A quick teaser for you of this gorgeous wedding... Ceremony, reception and wedding party photos all took place at and around the Metropolis in Arlington Heights. Love this downtown area!
Ok my friends. I've decided to start up a referral program again. My business has always succeeded because of my wonderful clients spreading the word, and I'd love to reward those for continuing to do so. Starting today, if you send an engaged couple my way and they book their wedding with me, and they name you, you will receive $100 off a family/equine photo session. What?!?! Thank you, thank you, to everyone for their continued support!!
See a familiar face?? I met up with Shannon and her sister Meg of Whole Food Love last week and over the weekend photographed Shannon's wedding. LOVE! Such a gorgeous day! Perfect weather. Perfect wedding. This is just a small taste.. Stay tuned for more as I edit this whole wedding!
Another beautiful wedding in the books. The forecast called for rain and storms all day. While we were prepared with umbrellas, my little rain dance worked once again. It was gorgeous - no rain and the sun joined us towards the end. Erin and John's entire wedding celebration was held at Independence Grove in Libertyville, IL. Such a great venue for both ceremony and reception. We had all kinds of time built into our timeline for photos which allowed us to go to the other side of the lake. So thrilled to be able to do this and take advantage of the scenery on that side. Later on the wedding party joined us for a few more shots in the garden area. Enjoy this little teaser Erin and John while I get your entire gallery ready! Thank you so much for having me document such a beautiful day in your lives!
Such a beautiful day today! It inspired me to share with you how one wedding from last summer took the flowers into their own hands and you would never know because they looked amazing! Have you ever thought to ask your local farmers market florist to supply the flowers for your wedding? That's exactly what this couple did. Once they picked up the flowers, the groom's mother got to work crafting bouquets with a little bit of burlap and lace ribbon. For the ceremony, the aisle was lined with hanging mason jars filled with flowers. So simple and gorgeous! And I have to say, the flowers lasted all day long. Too often I see flowers wilt after just a couple of hours. So enjoy this little DIY wedding day flowers.
I'm sharing with you another wedding today from this fall. It was a little chilly out this day in October, but gorgeous none the less. And Katie! What a beautiful bride! Her dad's expression the first time he saw her as a bride says it all. He wins the award for best reaction of all time. We start with some finishing touches at Katie's parent's home. From there, we had the ceremony where they first saw each other. All of our photos were taken after the ceremony and this great little park that I had no clue existed - Rosemont Park. The reception followed at the Rosewood. A lovely venue with fantastic service and a nice hot meal for us photographers. Always bonus points in my book for that! Please enjoy and maybe even find inspiration for your own wedding some day.
I'm a little behind with some of my blogging. Fall is such a crazy time of year for me. But I'm getting there! I bring you back to mid September. Whitney and Jacob said I do at Elawa Farm. Gorgeous wedding! However the rain decided to fall just as the wedding was about to begin. So we had to move everything inside the barn quickly. It was still beautiful and the rain stopped just in time for photos afterwards.... and promptly resumed just after! Like seconds... The girls were about 3 feet from the bus door as a downpour began. And I have to mention that the flowers came from the Lake Bluff farmers market. LOVE!
So excited for Amy and JD's wedding next September! They are having it at Pier Wisconsin, which is a venue I absolutely love up in Milwaukee. We had a bit of a chilly day for our photos at the lake shore, but with cold weather comes an empty beach. Perfect for our session. Love love love the muted colors of the city and Lake Michigan and that awesome striped blanket they brought to cuddle up in. Can't wait for the big day my new friends!
This was my first experience with Indian culture mixed into a western wedding. Most everything was western, but Lillian and Kevin did change into different outfits, had henna, and other various elements worked into the reception. We had a gorgeous day and it was so fun! Lillian and Kevin's outfit change was so full of color and detail. Loved it! Our entire day took place at Eaglewood Resort and the gorgeous flowers provided by Bella Floral. I have to say, what stood out most to me was during the best man speech. Kevin's brothers were telling stories about him. without getting into detail, I realized then what amazing people I work with. Love my job and my clients. Enjoy your preview and enjoy your honeymoon in Greece!!
Well friends, my little rain dance worked again. The weathermen were calling for storms all day, and our first drops didn't fall until the second after Lauren and Tony exited their gorgeous outdoor ceremony. SO beautiful! Meson Sabika provides such a wonderful location for both ceremony and reception. The perfect compliment to the gorgeous Lauren and that dress! Check out the back of Lauren's dress. Wowsa! A trend I'm noticing... it's all about the back of the dress. I cannot forget the flowers either. So amazing! Diane Michelles Florals provided the bouquets. Thank you so much for having me be part of such a beautiful day! Enjoy your preview!
This summer has been amazing. Every weekend, the weather seems to be perfect. I got to see many familiar faces last saturday at Ashley and Steve's wedding, which is always so fun! For our wedding party photos, we headed over to Olive Park in Chicago which was surprisingly not super busy. We only saw 3 other weddings. haha. We got some gorgeous shots and then headed over to Ravenswood Events Center. That was my first time there and loved it! We got some more shots in the alley out back. Gotta love an old brick alley! And the exposed brick inside of the venue was amazing! Such a cool space. Ashley and Steve sure know how to have fun with one another and their friends are amazing as well. Thank you so much for having me capture such an important and exciting day. Enjoy your sneak peek!
I have the best weddings. =) Another gorgeous wedding at the Saddle and Cycle Club in Chicago this past Saturday. I met Sam last year just days before he was moving to Chile to be with Daniela. They had both just graduated from college in NY - both fine art majors with Dani being a painter, and Sam sculpting. I had never even met Dani before the big day! She certainly didn't let me down. Such a beautiful girl with such perfect skin! The kindest, most easy going group. It was a pleasure. I wish you all my best in your new life together in Chile, and thank you for having me document such a wonderful day in your lives.
Well, I woke up to a downpour Saturday morning. Not what a photographer wants to see on a wedding day. So I did a little rain dance on facebook. Ta-dah!! By the time Rio and I arrived down in Chicago, it had stopped. And didn't rain again until we were all cozy inside at the reception. Kate and Aron had such a beautiful wedding. The ladies had champaign colored dresses with coral flowers and the men wore navy. They said their I Dos at St. Vincent DePaul and had a gorgeous reception at the Saddle and Cycle Club. Once of my favorite Chicago venues. And never had I seen a crowd rush the dance floor as soon as it opened. Amazing!
Another hot day! I met up with Erin and John yesterday in the Lincoln Park area for their engagement session. They had gotten engaged there so it was only fitting. We battled the remainder of the Pride crowd and found some space of our own. They did amazing. Beautiful colors and a beautiful couple. I can't wait for the wedding!
Saturday was a hot one! But we had no rain! That's all I ask for. =) Lindsay and Chris had a beautiful day for their wedding. The ladies gathered at Avalon Salon in Deer Park to have their hair and makeup done while the gentlemen hung out in a hotel sweet watching Brazil vs Chile in the world cup. A close friend officiated their ceremony in the beautiful Elmhurst Memorial Chapel. After the ceremony, we stopped by Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg for photos. Definitely a wedding hot spot. We found some great lighting and gorgeous scenery for our photos. Even a swan! Throughout the whole day, I kept thinking, I am so lucky to have such amazing people to work with. Thank you so much for having me document such an important day in your lives. I wish you all the best and enjoy your honeymoon!
I had the most amazing day yesterday. I had the privilege of attending a workshop by Jasmine Star - a photographer from California that I am completely inspired by. It was hosted by Robin Rachel Photography in her amazing studio right across the street from Salvage One. Pretty much after the first 10 minutes, I thought to myself, jasmine is absolutely amazing and if the workshop ended right here, I'd be happy. Why? Because she was an open book. So real. So nice. And she hugged me before I knew what hit me. ha! I've heard about other photographers in the Chicago area that hold workshops and are horrible. They dance around answering specific questions and are just plain rude. Not Jasmine. Any question was answered. While shooting, she would tell her settings no problem. No secrets. I really didn't have anything specific going in to the workshop that I was looking to get. I was open. What ever she had to share about her experience and working with clients, I was a sponge. She confirmed some thoughts I had of my own, which gave me such a great confidence boost as to if I was doing it right. And of course she offered so many more great insights and ideas for being better. I could ramble on and on all day. So happy to be able to attend these workshops to better my business for all of you. Never stop learning! Always strive to do better! <3 you j*
